together-togetherIn Acts 4:32-37:

1.  What do you think their church meant to the believers in this passage and what does your church mean to you today?
2. Why did the early church do such a great job of looking after each other? Do you do the same?
3. What does church mean to you?
4. How can our group pray for you this week and help you with your needs?

Remember to post things you have that somebody could use at www.twoshirts.org.

Have a great week!

Summer Time!

cube_picnic_08Well, many of us have been away and we haven’t had small group the past few weeks due to…well, just summer time stuff.  Just wanted to check in and say a quick hello to each of you.  We have been in Orlando the past week and have been having some major fun.  This week we are headed home and will stop in Thomasville, GA for a few days and then visit my brother and his family in Atlanta as well.

The girls are starting to miss home and actually Avery stated the other day that she wants to sleep in her own bed.  Well, we’ll be home soon!

Wanted to challenge all of you to get involved in something that we all can do and use this as a chance to see each other-July 11th is a Serve/Eat/Play activity.  It begins at 10:00am in Keenher Park (Old West Chester area).

We will meet with other small groups and people from VCC at 10:00am and do some outreaches in the West Chester area.  We then come back to Keenher Park to eat from noon to 1:00 and then from 1:00-3:00 we plays games like volleyball, cornhole, board games…whatever games we want to play.

We need our small group to step up and help at this event, if you are capable and willing! If you come, we need everyone to bring some sort of side dish.  Not only would this be a good time to do some outreach but also to see each other and other members of VCC…so you can invite anyone to this…not just our small group.

So, e-mail Amy and let her know what you can or can’t do.  See plan to be there! Miss seeing you guys!

How quickly summer has come and, believe it or not, summer will quickly pass by us.  Here is something that I want you to consider for our next study.  It is a long study, but well worth it.

Check out the link and let me know your thoughts.

Hey all, this is a video that someone passed on to me.  Take some time this week and watch this video and “think” on it.  See you next Sunday!

Life is temporary.

Good to see you all this week.  Just a reminder about the two things you need to do this week:

1.  Pray and ask God what in your pie chart needs to be moved around and do it.

2. Take one things that “wastes your time” this week and don’t do it at all…at least for one week.

We will all come back next week and have the opportunity to tell everyone what we learned this week!

Have a great week!

Hey, its March Madness you all! I know you wanted to keep updated on all the scores, so check it out below! If you click on the “watch now” button, it will take you to the game live!

Reset Week #4

Hey gang, next Sunday we are just going to move ahead with the schedule and do week #4 this next Sunday.  Please do the prompts for week #4 and also do the challenge.  Below is the challenge from our booklet:

“Following Jesus means getting rid of things in our life that keep us from receiving what he wants to give us.  This week your challenge is simple, but will require a bit of planning: visita local cemetery and listen to (or read) this week’s challenge while you’re there.  You can download an MP3 audio verson of the challenge (or a written transcript) at www.resetjourney.com

You can take a walk or stay in your car, but don’t wimp out on the cemetery thing.  Sometimes a change of environment can help us break out of old, worn out patterns.  (And whatever you do, don’t step on any graves.  Dead people really hate that.)”

See you next Sunday.

However

However . . . Judges 1:27

Judges covers a new phase in Israel’s history, a phase that was to be marked by obedience. It wasn’t that long ago when Joshua’s challenge to fear and serve the Lord was still ringing in Israel’s ears. In response, all of Israel gave a collective “Amen!” in Joshua 24:14-18…check it out.

So, this brings us to the first chapter of Judges. Everything seems to be going fine until we hit a word in verse 27 that brings all of the spiritual momentum to a halt. It’s the word “However.”

A lot is packed into this little word. It stands as a testimony that although Israel did experience a degree of victory, she never fully experienced all that she should or could have. Her victories were ultimately overshadowed by defeats-defeats that weren’t necessarily unavoidable.

These defeats happened because God’s people simply didn’t obey what He told them to do. And that was to thoroughly wipe out the Canaanites who were still dwelling in the Promised Land. No exceptions, they were to drive them all out.

But the enemy was determined to stay in the land, and God’s people were content to live alongside them. To them, it was just a matter of “live and let live.” But to the Lord, it was a matter of disobedience, and it would prove to be Israel’s undoing. They knew what God said but figured there was another…better way to do things.

How God must shudder when we say, “Wait, I’ve got a better idea.” May God protect us from ever saying or thinking such a thing! If there’s one thing that Israel’s example proves for all of us, it’s that everything works out better when we do exactly what God tells us to do. How many times have you tried it your way and failed…yet, it still continue to do it!

So what have been your consequences of your obedience to God being less than complete.

What lessons have you learned about partial obedience?

Read Judges 1 this week and see what signs of partial obedience you find. What were the consequences of not following through with God’s instructions in Judges 1? What’s the lesson for us today?

Decide to recognize the danger of partial obedience in your own life. Challenge your family to spend time this week taking their own personal spiritual inventory. Examine those places in your life where you are not completely following through with God’s desire and direction.

Make it a great week!
